The Harpoons

There are some great 60’s inspired bands coming out of Melbourne at the moment. This isn’t to say that Melbourne is a backwards city,it’s quite the opposite. Except of course, when it comes to the dismal public transport system.
Like fellow Melbounians Little Red, The Harpoon play 60’s inspired pop. The key difference between the two bands however is the harmonies. While Little Red make good use of harmonies it often feels like overkill, this isn’t a problem when it comes to The Harpoons. Singer Bec has a great voice, and they do such a good job at replicating the Motown sound it’s hard to belive the band are in their twenties. They sound like something you might find on a record from your Grandma’s house, which is a very good thing.
