The new single from Melbourne band Crayon Fields, All The Pleasures Of The World, could quite possibly be the world’s best awkward love song. And I say this with the upmost respect.
The song lyrics themselves are quite sleazy however Geoff O’Connor’s delivery stops them from sounding that way. He even manages to make the line Thunder applauds us/As we neck in a door sound incredibly romantic rather than cheap. In fact, the whole song comes off as being quite sweet. The music itself is is 2 minutes and 57 seconds of the kind of dreamy pop that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy(and it has nothing to do with the lyrics).
While the majority of people will get their fix of racy lyrics from rap music, us awkward and introverted types get The Crayon Fields, which let’s face it, is the much better option.
This song is from the bands album of the same name which will be relased in September on Chapter Music. I don’t know about you guys, but personally I can’t wait.
This song won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s worth a listen. It’s posted with permission so if you’re in the e-police, don’t send me angry emails.
